For the last seven-week, my journey in Ottawa has just been incredible. Learning how an information system is a basic need for every organization because of the advancement in technology helped improve my skills in my profession. Different organizations may use different types of information systems in the production of goods and services and their operation. I have learned the importance of choosing the right information system for an organization because this impacts the quality of services and products the organization might be offering.
Every organization has culture and goals that help to give them direction on where they are heading. Every organization should have goals that have to be achieved over a given period. During the course I had the opportunity to learn about the importance of having goals and how an organization can achieve its goals. As an individual, I also have goals to accomplish in life; the course has shown me the importance of having goals in life. Goals cannot be achieved without having a proper plan that will help in giving direction on how the goals will be completed and after how long. Therefore it is essential to note that goals cannot be achieved without having proper planning. Grit refers to the ability that people possess on something they love and persevere even in situations they might be facing challenges. Grit is a skill that is very important to people when they want to achieve their goals in life. As a QA tester, we experience many problems, and this can make someone lose hope in achieving their goals in their profession. However, having grit has helped me to always learn from my failures and learn new things by persevering to achieve the goals I have in life even though faced with many challenges.
During the last seven weeks, I have learned the importance of understanding the best and worst-performing products or services that an organization offers. Learning this is very important because products and services an organization delivers are what determine their sales and revenue. The use of the right technology is an essential factor to consider when it comes to the quality of products or services delivered. The information technology field has advanced and making drastic changes in different organizations by improving the services and products provided to customers. Consequently, choosing the right technology or application has a significant impact on the sales and revenue an organization gets. Understanding an organization, expenses, net margin, gross margin, costs of goods, revenues, sales, and best products help to understand the direction the organization is going.
As a QA tester, I have always wanted to be a leader and, in the future, become one of the best managers in a leading organization. Through the course, I have learned the skills to become a good leader with an organization and how to relate with other employees. Before one becomes a good leader, they got to have excellent leadership skills that will build a relationship with other workers. Therefore the knowledge and skills from the last seven weeks have enabled me to improve my leadership and managerial abilities, starting with improving communication.
Covid 19 is a virus that has affected many countries globally, causing deaths to hundreds of thousands, leaving millions infected with the virus. Learning how COVID 19 has affected work is a valuable material that helps people to take precautions to avoid contracting the virus. Learning on COVID 19 helps by ensuring that I protect myself and co-workers from getting the infection. Taking measures like maintaining social distance, sanitizing, and working from home and washing hands is some of the caution ones have to take to reduce. All these measures taken is related to my profession because it helps me to learn ways to prevent and get the virus.
Delivering quality work is another topic that I did learn in the course. Giving quality and original work helps in making learn the advantages of providing services and products that are genuine. This has helped me because it shows the importance of delivering our original work without coping with others or giving credit to information from others. For example, people should not develop other applications or a piece of work and make it sound as if it is theirs.
