PART 1: ABOUT ME

Describe some of your primary personal, academic, and professional goals.

My main individual goals are: lessen the duration patients wait to be served, ensure patients’ privacy, ensure proper time management, and increase efficiency, ensure high-quality patient care. Some of my academic goals include; advance my education to ensure that I get to improve my skills. Do more academic research papers to get work more with qualified experts, and to get an associate course, for example, community health to widen my career field. My main professional goals are; expand my knowledge and skills by attending workshops and training, improve my work performance by having a positive attitude towards my job. (Lawler & Boudreau, 2018). Gain new experience by exploring various areas in the health care sector, also to do things that make me stand out positively in my department.

Major strong points as a health care are; I have a great passion for my job, I also am a good listener and have great compassion, am a good team player, and if I need to meet goals individually I do it correctly. I have entirely perfected the following skills; my problem solving and communication skills, my multi-tasking skill, which is very crucial in the health care sector. I am also a good timekeeper, especially when I have to meet set deadlines (Lawler & Boudreau, 2018).

What are some areas you would like to grow and improve in?

I would like to improve on my presentation skills, especially before large audiences, grow in my outreach program skills to be able to interact with my patients in the community. I would also like to be up to date with the new emerging issues in the health sector to be able to approach each new problem the right way.

PART 2: ACCOMPLISHMENT STATEMENTS

Accomplishments do not have to be as large as climbing the top of Mount Everest or starting your own company. We accomplish many things in our lives every day that has meaning. For example, perhaps you organized volunteers for your school’s food drive or made an extremely profitable sale. Or, if you’re more advanced in your career, perhaps you have received a promotion or special recognition.

In this part of the assignment, you will identify two accomplishments from work, school, volunteering, or other activities. You’ll then practice communicating these in ways appropriate for a CV or résumé.

1) Think about each of your accomplishments in these terms:

Challenge	Our clients complained that they spent a lot of time before they got to be served.
Action	I came up with new software that reduced the procedures, identify areas where their patients were also helped up, came up with goals and objectives which were approved by the management, and I had the various identified steps implemented and evaluated after a specific time.
Result	Five months after implementation, we were able to serve more patients in time, and our comment box no longer had complained of people spending much time in the health facility.
Details	Earlier the average time it took to serve one patient was between 15 to 25 minutes; 5 months later the patient spent less than 10 minutes in the waiting bay.

Consider the example below of someone with experience as a retail manager:

Challenge	An increase in customer complaints about the helpfulness of the staff.
Action	Developed a new training program for staff, got approval from the district manager, and, once approved, implemented it with a regular review process.
Result	After three months, customer complaints decreased.
Details	Previously, customer complaints averaged 4 per week. After three months, complaints averaged one or less per week.

Write two stories to practice using this format:

Challenge	The health care facility management complained that much money was being used, and the output was low, they were thinking of layoffs.
Action	I come up with various solutions that helped save money for the organization. I recruited some volunteers who helped with some of the work. I then worked with the IT department to remove the programs that were not bringing any benefits in terms of profits.
Result	After six months, most departments were making profits, and there was increased productivity.
Details	Instead of the layoff, the management hired five volunteers who were placed in various departments. There was also a 20% increase in productivity in most departments after eight months.

Challenge	We received complaints from our clients about the privacy of their information.
Action	There was the training of the staff on how important it was to maintain patient and doctor confidentiality. I followed up on patients who had complained and assured them it would not happen again.
Result	Two months later, the patients were no longer complaining, and we are complimenting the staff.
Details	After the two months, our patients’ numbers, which had gone down by 10%, were now up by 35%.

3) Now, try writing your two accomplishment stories concisely for a résumé or CV:

Formula 1: Result + action + brief description including clarifying details.

Example: Decreased customer complaints from 3 per week to 1 or less per week by training staff and implementing a regular review process.

Formula 2: Action + brief description with clarifying details + results.

Example: Trained retail staff in customer-service techniques and implemented a regular review process, decreasing customer complaints from 3 per week to 1 or less per week.

Accomplishment 1 Story

Initiated a software that helped reduce the procedures that our clients have to go through, there was a decrease in time spent on serving a client from 25 to 15 minutes.

Accomplishment 2 Story

The volunteer program helped increase the productivity in various departments and saved jobs and led to the hiring of 5 volunteers to various departments and a 20% increase in profits.

PART 3: REFLECT ON YOUR EXPERIENCES

How has reflecting on your goals, strengths, areas of growth, and accomplishments been valuable for you?

On career goals and achievements helps me identify the areas I need to improve on and help work on my strengths to complement my weaknesses. Reflecting on my goals helps me identify what I have been able to achieve and the goals I need to reevaluate. (Jennifer. J, Julian, 2020). Determining my achievements has helped me establish the skills that are very helpful in my career and help me with the areas I am strong in. Knowing my results is valuable because it helps me understand my worth in the department and my professional growth.

What are the ways you can build in a regular practice of reflection?

There are several ways one can engage in reflection which include; talking to colleagues in the department to give their personal opinions on my performance at work, setting personal goals and regularly reviewing them to identify the ones that have been meeting and identifying the areas that I made significant achievement and the areas I failed. To build on reflection, I can also create my own appraisal documents that I use to evaluate my performance. (Jennifer. J, Julian, 2020).

In your current understanding of the 10 Skills, identify 1–2 skills that you believe have helped you reach the accomplishments listed in Part 2. Briefly explain how.

Skills that have helped me achieve what I have been able to be being a team player and problem-solving. Being a team player has helped me be able to interact with my workmates and helped me identify areas that have been challenging. This is why, as a department, we were able to save on time because we identified time-consuming areas, and we introduced new procedures. Having the skill of problem-solving, I was able to come up with solutions that helped us save both money and time. I identified pieces of training for our staff members, and I stopped using methods that were not cost-effective.

After practicing writing your accomplishments in a CV or résumé-appropriate style, do you feel more confident in expressing your accomplishments to an employer? Briefly explain.

Achievements in a resume are always a plus because an employer can know the areas one is strong in. I would have my accomplishment in the resume because an employer will be able to identify my career objectives through things I have been able to accomplish from my previous jobs. Achievements also tell the one who is hiring that I can meet set goals and objectives
