MJ’s major health problems are poor balance, fatigue, and depression from her inability to perform her ADL activities. Poor body balance means that MJ fears walking on her own for fear of falling again. Fatigue is a result of inactivity, while depression and anxiety are caused by her loss of ability to perform her daily activities as she was used to.
MJ will have to undergo a modified fatigue impact scale for eight weeks to develop the ability to remember and recognize things around her to enable her to lead a normal life(Souer, Buijze & Ring, 2011). After the second week has elapsed, MJ should slowly be able to recognize things around her even people by seeing them and memory recover. The intervention method that will be applied here is to restore what MJ has lost(Krischak et al.., 2009) The therapist is required to guide MJ on the cognitive exercises and ensure that she completes her morning dressing and personal hygiene or she is provided with some support to complete these tasks (Szekeres, Macdermid, Grewal & Birmingham, 2018)
The Berg Balance Test aims to improve MJ’s ability to participate in ADL and IADL activities with increased balance(Souer, Buijze & Ring, 2011). Through this process, after the second week, she should be able to experience fewer pains, and she will be able to sit and make movements with less strain. This intervention aims to ensure that she restores and maintains her ability to move with less strain(Krischak et al.., 2009). This will be achieved through applications of enhanced technology which ensures that movement is enhanced; this may include ensuring that MJ can participate in her daily activities, ensuring that she practices safe methods to get in and out of the bathroom.
Another intervention for MJ is the Beck’s Depression Inventory which is the restoration and maintenance method in whereby by the second week she will be able to have reduced anxiety, and she will also be able to help in doing home duties and help her feel comfortable around other people after the second week(Krischak et al.., 2009). This will be achieved through meditation, light activity exercise, tending her plants and her garden, she can also choose to play the desired game by either involving others or she chose to do it as a solo player(Rostami, Arefi, & Tabatabei, 2013)
The first intervention sessions will take 15 minutes each. These sessions will involve preparing a simple meal, incorporating actions such as reaching and stepping out of base support. This activity is aimed at reducing MJ’s anxiety and depression by being able to cook for herself and her husband and improve her balance. The second activity will involve bathing, including lower body bathing for 15 minutes. This will help improve MJ’s sense of pride in being able to perform her grooming, thus elevate her levels of stress and anxiety. It will also improve MJ’s body balance and reduce fatigue the remaining 10 minutes will be divided into two sessions in which it will involve contraction of quadriceps this will prepare leg muscles for motor activities, and it will help her enhance balance. The last 5 minutes will be used in improving MJ balancing and motor abilities. This will involve standing and raising legs.
